Dinner:

Abstract: Direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry (DART-MS) is a relatively new MS method that directly and quickly identifies intact volatile, semivolatile, and nonvolatile polar organic compounds in a variety of matrices without extractions, derivatizations, and chromatographic separations. This talk will present examples of paper degradation challenges, show how DART-MS can be optimized for identifying organic components of papers with minimal destructive sampling, and discuss the relationship between ionization by DART-MS and pyrolysis-MS.
